They Did It!
|
The state went ahead and passed an irresponsible 11.5 billion dollar budget. This represents an 11.6% increase over 2007's $10.3B budget, which itself was a 10.8% increase over 2005's $9.3B. You can see a list of the new taxes and fee increases here, but some of the highlights are:
- Increase in the Rooms & Meals tax to 9%
- Charging rooms and meals tax on campgrounds
- Confiscation of $110 million dollars from the Joint Medical Malpractice Insurance Fund [a court has ruled against this]
- Increase in the Tobacco Tax to $1.78, the fourth increase in five years!
- Increase in the fee for Drivers License's, Car Registrations, Vanity Plates and doubles the Boat Registration fee
- Elimination of the EZ Pass discount
- Inclusion of small business income in the interest and dividends tax
Keep in mind, that we are in a recession! There should be no tax increases whatsoever. It really comes down to the out-of-control SPENDING.
If you want to take back your country, it must start with your state. Get active and work for legislators who don't look at you like a sheep to be fleeced.
