CANDIDATES FOR STATE SENATOR AND STATE REPRESENTATIVE RESPOND TO SURVEY FROM GRANITE STATE TAXPAYERS

Bedford, NH – During July, Granite State Taxpayers mailed a survey to all candidates for the offices of State Senator and State Representative, to learn their positions on certain key issues pertaining to taxes and spending.

The survey asked four questions, as follows:

  1. Will you vote to limit any increase in state spending to the increase in the cost of living plus population growth, and support a constitutional amendment that will do this?
  2. Will you vote to oppose any broad-based tax, such as an income tax, a sale tax, a consumption tax, or any other efforts to increase the overall tax burden on New Hampshire citizens?
  3. Do you believe that education funding should be resolved by the legislature and not the courts?
  4. Will you support openness and accountability in state government by voting to publish all government contracts and payments online?

The following table lists those candidates who have responded to the survey as of August 27. The column marked Total indicates how many of the four questions were answered yes. Granite State Taxpayers will support a candidate whose total is 3 or 4.
